Seagate and Acronis Partner to Deliver Secure Archival Storage Solution
Seagate and Acronis have joined forces to introduce a new S3-compatible archival storage tier integrated into the Acronis platform, catering to the needs of managed service providers and enterprises requiring long-term data retention with predictable costs.
The collaboration, announced on 22 September, introduces Acronis Archival Storage as an option for storing infrequently accessed data. This service aims to eliminate additional charges for API usage and data traffic, ensuring a controlled and predictable pricing model.
As part of the partnership, Acronis will integrate Seagate’s Lyve Cloud Object Storage into its archival storage offering. Lyve Cloud boasts features such as encryption during transit and at rest, role-based access control, identity and access management, immutability options, and compliance with ISO 27001 and SOC 2 standards.
The strategic alliance between Seagate and Acronis targets managed service providers and IT leaders in regulated industries like healthcare, finance, legal, utilities, and public administration. These sectors often face stringent audit and compliance requirements necessitating the retention of data for multiple years at scale.
Both companies emphasize the importance of providing secure storage solutions for rapidly expanding datasets while ensuring compliance controls are maintained. Seagate’s SVP of Edge Storage and Services, Melyssa Banda, highlights the significance of this collaboration in delivering secure storage solutions for the evolving landscape of AI.
Acronis’ President, Gaidar Magdanurov, acknowledges the alignment between Seagate’s expertise in mass-capacity storage and Acronis’ commitment to offering integrated archival storage solutions prioritizing security, compliance, and cost-efficiency. With a growing number of organizations managing over 1 PB of data, the demand for archival storage solutions is on the rise to manage storage costs effectively.
This partnership aims to empower partners to address the increasing need for long-term data storage while meeting the compliance, legal, and security requirements of their clients. By leveraging Seagate’s global leadership in storage technology and Acronis’ innovative cybersecurity solutions, the alliance is set to revolutionize the way data is securely stored and managed in the digital era.
