In a strategic move to boost connectivity in the Americas, global telecommunications provider Sparkle has unveiled a new Point of Presence (PoP) in San Diego, California. This expansion reinforces Sparkle’s position as a key player in the international internet backbone market.
Situated within MDC’s carrier-neutral data center, the San Diego PoP is seamlessly integrated into Sparkle’s Tier-1 global IP backbone, Seabone. With existing PoPs in key locations like McAllen, El Paso, and Dallas, as well as Queretaro in Mexico, this new site enhances redundancy and routing options for regional and international clients.
Sparkle employs a combination of terrestrial and submarine cables to establish five distinct routes linking South and North America. These routes, including operational subsea systems like Curie, Monet, and Seabras-1, ensure high-throughput, low-latency data transport – essential for bandwidth-intensive applications in today’s digital landscape.
The San Diego PoP promises terabits per second capacities, making it an ideal platform for CDNs, ISPs, OTT platforms, and cloud service providers. In addition to IP transit, Sparkle offers innovative services like Virtual NAP and DDoS Protection, further solidifying its commitment to enhancing digital infrastructure and meeting the evolving connectivity needs across the Americas.
