Sun Nuclear, a company based in Melbourne, Florida and a part of the Mirion Medical group, has recently acquired Oncospace, a provider of cloud-based solutions powered by artificial intelligence for the radiation oncology community.
The financial details of the acquisition have not been disclosed, but it marks a significant development in Sun Nuclear’s digital-forward strategy for radiation therapy quality assurance. By integrating Oncospace’s innovative solutions into the Sun Nuclear brand, the company aims to further optimize patient outcomes through data-driven, physician-centric approaches.
Oncospace, founded in 2018, has introduced two main offerings that will now be a part of Sun Nuclear’s portfolio:
- Gateway: This treatment planning conversion solution is designed for Philips Pinnacle users, converting patient archives into modern treatment planning solutions like Raysearch Raystation and Varian Medical Systems® Eclipse. Originally focused on prostate treatments, Gateway has expanded to include head and neck radiotherapy, with future expansions in the pipeline.
- Predictive Plan Quality and Feasibility: Leveraging AI and machine learning technologies, this solution analyzes thousands of clinical treatment plans to establish achievable dosimetry goals for plan optimization and evaluation, enhancing the precision of radiation therapy planning.
