Telehouse Germany Expands Data Centre Campus in Frankfurt
Telehouse Germany has recently added a new building to its data centre campus in Frankfurt, providing an additional 2,200 square meters of space spread across three floors. This expansion brings the total data centre space on the campus to over 50,000 square meters, catering to a wide range of requirements from single racks to dedicated data centre areas.
The expansion is part of Telehouse’s larger European growth strategy, fueled by the increasing demand from German companies for external computing power. This trend is driven by the ongoing investment in future-proof cloud applications. Frankfurt, being the largest network node in Europe, remains a key location for data centres in Germany.
Building M, the newest addition to the campus, is already fully leased due to high demand. Plans for further expansion of the site are underway, with ample space available for future development. Telehouse Germany is committed to sustainability and has implemented a heat recovery system that utilizes waste heat generated by the data centres to provide district heating for the nearby residential quarter known as “FRANKY.”
The heat recovery process contributes to over 60% of the annual energy requirement for heating homes and water in the community, resulting in a significant reduction in CO2 emissions compared to conventional heating methods. This initiative aligns with the ‘KfW Efficiency House 55’ standard for the entire residential district, showcasing Telehouse Germany’s commitment to environmental responsibility.
Telehouse Europe is also exploring similar sustainability initiatives in the UK and has already implemented heat reuse at its campus in Paris. Dr. Béla Waldhauser, Managing Director of Telehouse Deutschland GmbH, emphasizes the importance of balancing efficiency, performance, safety, and environmental protection to meet the needs of their customers.
With a focus on innovation, growth, and sustainability, Telehouse Germany’s expansion in Frankfurt sets a new standard for data centres in the region. The company’s commitment to responsible practices and environmental stewardship reflects a global initiative towards a more sustainable future.
