The latest leak of the battery component for the upcoming iPhone 17 Air has raised concerns about the device’s battery life. Rumors suggest that Apple is gearing up to release a super-slim smartphone to compete with the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge later this year.

One of the main criticisms of the Galaxy S25 Edge was its battery life, and it seems that the iPhone 17 Air might face a similar issue based on recent reports.

iPhone 17 Air’s Slim Battery

Images shared on a South Korean blog reveal that the iPhone 17 Air’s battery, along with its metal case, will be a mere 2.49mm thick. In comparison, the battery for the iPhone 17 Pro appears to be twice as thick.

The leaked information suggests that the slim battery of the iPhone 17 Air will have a capacity of just 2900mAh, significantly lower than the Galaxy S25 Edge’s 3900mAh battery.

While Apple’s iPhones have historically had smaller batteries than their Android counterparts, iOS is known for its energy efficiency. However, even by Apple’s standards, the iPhone 17 Air’s battery capacity raises concerns about its longevity.

Powered Up for 2021

If the reported battery capacity is accurate, the iPhone 17 Air may harken back to the days of the iPhone 12 in terms of battery performance. The iPhone 12 was able to last a full day with moderate usage, though heavy use could drain the battery faster.

Apple is expected to equip the iPhone 17 Air with a modern and efficient processor, which could potentially offset the smaller battery capacity. The real test will be in how well the device performs in real-world usage scenarios.
