Upwind Acquires Nyx Security to Enhance Cloud Security Capabilities

Upwind, a leading cloud security provider based in San Francisco, has recently completed the acquisition of Nyx Security, an innovative embedded cybersecurity startup from Tel Aviv, Israel.
The financial details of the acquisition have not been disclosed.
Nyx Security, founded in 2024 by Gili Yankovich and Alon Saban, has developed a cutting-edge technology platform that enables the detection of vulnerable code in memory and the identification of behavioral anomalies that modify the code’s operation in real time. This unique capability not only locates vulnerable code in memory but also detects changes in code behavior as they occur.
On the other hand, Upwind, founded by Amiram Shachar, offers a robust cloud security platform designed to help organizations detect and mitigate threats with enhanced precision. Since its establishment in 2022, the company has raised $180 million in funding from investors such as Greylock, Cyberstarts, Leaders Fund, Craft Ventures, Cerca Partners, and Sheva.
Through this acquisition, Upwind aims to broaden its runtime protection capabilities by incorporating application-level insights, enabling customers to identify and address a wider range of threats in real time.
By integrating Nyx Security’s technology, Upwind users will gain the ability to detect anomalies at the application code level during runtime, empowering them to proactively address potential threats to their cloud-based applications. This comprehensive security offering adds an extra layer of protection across cloud workloads and applications without the need for additional tools.
As part of the acquisition, the Nyx team will join Upwind to strengthen the company’s expertise in eBPF, runtime detection, and application-layer observability.
This strategic move not only enhances Upwind’s security offerings but also reinforces its commitment to providing advanced cloud security solutions to its clients.
