Vertiv Expands Manufacturing Capabilities in India to Meet Growing Demand
Vertiv, a global leader in data centre solutions, has announced the opening of a new manufacturing facility in Chakan, Pune, India. This strategic move comes in response to the increasing demand for data centres and supporting infrastructure solutions worldwide, particularly in India and the APAC region. The new plant focuses on manufacturing thermal management products and solutions designed for colocation, cloud, telecom, and enterprise data centres to cater to both local and international markets. This facility marks Vertiv’s third manufacturing plant in India, complementing its existing facilities in Ambernath and Pune.
The newly opened facility, spread across 4.8 acres (210,000 square feet), specializes in the production of cooling solutions ranging from 200W to 2MW+. This includes adiabatic free cooling chillers, large custom air handling units (AHU), thermal wall units, a variety of direct expansion (DX) and free cooling with economiser units, in-row cooling units, wall mount units, and rack cooling systems. Additionally, the facility is equipped with state-of-the-art psychometric labs for performance testing, a dedicated customer experience centre, and design support capabilities. Situated in an India Green Building Council (IGBC) compliant park, the facility emphasizes sustainability and environmental impact reduction.
Commenting on this development, Vertiv CEO Giordano (Gio) Albertazzi stated, “The increasing digitalization worldwide and the rapid adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI) have fueled the growth of the data centre industry, creating a demand for enhanced capacity, particularly in the thermal and power infrastructure sector. India’s emergence as a data centre hub in the APAC region has been a driving force behind the establishment of our third manufacturing facility in the country, underscoring our commitment to supporting India’s data centre ecosystem while meeting global demands.”
