The initiative, overseen by the European High Performance Computing Joint Undertaking (EuroHPC JU), is designed to assist organizations in their adoption of AI, deepen their understanding of the technology, and demonstrate its potential to enhance productivity and drive economic growth. The University of Edinburgh’s EPCC has secured EU and UK Government funding to establish and operate the UK AI Factory Antenna (UKAIFA), which will provide tailored services to start-ups, SMEs, larger industrial firms, and the public sector.
With a focus on key sectors such as health, fintech, energy, creative industries, advanced engineering, and robotics, the AI Factory Antenna will leverage existing strengths in the UK to accelerate AI adoption. As part of the EU’s AI Factories initiative, the project aims to foster innovation and collaboration in AI, aligning computing, data, and talent to drive advancements in the field for the benefit of all stakeholders.
The UK Government’s selection of EPCC to lead the AI Factory Antenna initiative underscores the country’s commitment to advancing AI capabilities. Through collaboration with the HammerHAI AI Factory in Germany, the UKAIFA at EPCC aims to harness the power of AI in partnership with leading academic research centers and industry players.
