The anticipated release of Samsung’s Galaxy S26 smartphones is just around the corner, with the Ultra variant receiving a notable upgrade in the form of a 60W charger. While this upgrade was expected to bring significant improvements in charging speed, recent findings paint a different picture. According to charging test results shared by Ice Universe, the S26 Ultra can only reach 75% battery capacity in 30 minutes, a result that is not much better than its predecessor, the S25 Ultra.
Despite the underwhelming charging speed of the S26 Ultra, there is still hope for a substantial upgrade in wireless charging capabilities. Rumors suggest that Samsung may boost wireless charging from 15W to 25W, potentially incorporating Qi2 magnetic charging technology. This move could help Samsung better compete with rivals like the Google Pixel 10 series, which already feature embedded Qi2 (Pixelsnap) technology.
As the launch date for the Galaxy S26 range approaches on February 25, all eyes will be on Samsung to see if they can deliver on the promises of enhanced charging capabilities and innovative technology.
