Commercial property insurer FM has recently announced an increase in capacity to better serve its global FM Intellium clients. This expansion aims to enhance the data and power generation ecosystem by providing higher limits and improved risk mitigation strategies. FM’s expertise in engineering has allowed them to raise their capacity to USD 5 billion, showcasing their commitment to supporting their clients effectively.

The company’s focus on innovation led to the launch of FM Intellium last year, a project aimed at helping businesses navigate the challenges and opportunities presented by technological advancements. From artificial intelligence to cloud computing and power generation needs, FM Intellium is dedicated to assisting clients in adapting to these changes.

In October, Christopher Dempsey was appointed as the senior vice president of FM Intellium, overseeing the unit’s efforts to cater to the requirements of FM’s existing and prospective data center clients. With over 25 years of experience in insuring data centers, FM currently protects around 1,100 facilities, totaling USD 250 billion in value.

Malcolm Roberts, the chair and CEO of FM, emphasized the company’s long-standing commitment to supporting clients in evolving industries and preventing potential losses. By combining engineering expertise with research-driven solutions, FM aims to bolster the growing data center sector.

Christopher Dempsey expressed pride in the increased capacity to support data center clients, predicting a rise in demand for digital infrastructure due to the continuous growth of AI and cloud computing. He stressed the importance of insurers keeping pace with industry developments to ensure resilience and operational efficiency for the communities and businesses served by data centers.
