Eurostar’s IT Suite Upgraded with Energy-Efficient Panasonic P Series Units

Mac-Mech and Co recently partnered with Logicool distributors to upgrade Eurostar’s IT suite with two Panasonic P Series close control units – the UPU30 and UPU50 models, offering 30kW and 50kW of cooling capacity. This upgrade ensures a more energy-efficient cooling solution for Eurostar’s infrastructure.

Vince King, Eurostar’s Infrastructure Engineering Manager, expressed his satisfaction with the new Panasonic units, stating that they are quieter, more efficient, and cost-effective to maintain compared to the previous units. The installation process was streamlined and straightforward, thanks to the design of the units. Eurostar plans to replace the remaining older units with Panasonic units over the next two years.

The Panasonic P Series units selected for this project provide precise control over room temperatures and humidity, making them essential for data center applications. With a high energy efficiency ratio (EER) and low operating costs, these units offer cooling solutions for various specialized applications that require tailored temperatures.

Mac-Mech and Co’s Contractors Manager, Matt Campbell, highlighted the advantages of choosing Panasonic units over competitors. The Panasonic units offered better value, shorter delivery lead times, and easier installation compared to other options in the market. The units’ accessibility and straightforward installation instructions made the upgrade process efficient.

Panasonic’s Focus on Customized Close Control Solutions

Following the acquisition of Tecnair in February 2023, Panasonic has been dedicated to delivering customized close control solutions for data centers. Tecnair’s expertise and state-of-the-art solutions, combined with Panasonic’s research and development efforts, have resulted in the Techline Series – a range of meticulously engineered solutions that uphold Tecnair’s reputation as a leader in close control air conditioning.

Karl Richardson, Managing Director at Logicool Air Conditioning & Heat Pumps Limited, expressed satisfaction with the collaboration on this project. The new Panasonic P Series units met the application requirements perfectly, offering a simple, effective, and cost-efficient solution for Eurostar’s IT suite. Both the contractor and end-user were pleased with the performance of the product.

Versatile Applications of Panasonic P Series Units

The Panasonic P Series units installed at Eurostar’s Maintenance depot are designed for precision air conditioning, with a high Energy Efficiency Ratio (EER) and a wide range of accessories. These units are ideal for data centers and high electronic density rooms, with options for upflow or downflow air discharge configurations. In this project, the downflow configuration was utilized.

While optimized for data centers, the technical features of the P Series units make them suitable for various special applications, including metrology labs, TV production studios, museums, control rooms in power stations, and more. They are versatile units that can be used across different industrial sectors, such as optics, electronics, and musical instrument production.

Overall, the upgrade to Panasonic P Series units has significantly improved the cooling efficiency and performance of Eurostar’s IT suite, showcasing the benefits of investing in energy-efficient solutions for infrastructure upgrades.
