Plug and Play, a renowned innovation group, has launched its first accelerator program in the Seattle area, with participating companies receiving free office space at SNBL Global Gateway in Everett, Washington.

The initial cohort of startups selected for the 12-week program includes three Pacific Northwest companies among the 10 chosen. FlyX Technologies from Bellevue is developing wireless charging technology for drones, Expanso from Seattle focuses on data processing for enhanced security and cost-effectiveness, and LÅŒD from Vancouver provides IoT and energy management software for data centers.

Although the startups in this batch are not all local, Plug and Play aims to strengthen the innovation ecosystem in the region by combining local talent with ideas from across the country and beyond. The program is designed to encourage collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and long-term growth in the Pacific Northwest.

The participating startups are not required to relocate to Seattle as the program will be delivered virtually. However, Plug and Play offers free office space at SNBL Global Gateway in Everett, Washington, for those who choose to work from a physical location. The program is a partnership between Plug and Play, SNBL Global Gateway, and CoMotion at the University of Washington.

With over 60 locations worldwide, Plug and Play’s Seattle expansion aims to accelerate the growth of companies by providing resources, mentorship, and connections within its global network. The first cohort will address various challenges in enterprise software, energy, healthtech, and cloud infrastructure.

The startups in the inaugural program batch cover a range of innovative solutions, including streamlining third-party contract negotiations, optimizing energy usage, and developing novel multianalyte sequencing technology for disease detection. Other startups focus on automating tasks in hospitals, providing context-aware insights for decision-making, and automating code migrations using advanced AI technology.

In addition to startup accelerators, Plug and Play also operates corporate innovation programs and a venture capital fund that has invested in successful companies like Dropbox, Guardant Health, and PayPal.

Overall, Plug and Play’s entry into the Seattle area is set to boost the region’s tech ecosystem by supporting innovative startups and fostering collaboration among entrepreneurs.
