Toloka Raises $72 Million to Enhance AI Development Platform

A leading provider of a platform for businesses to create secure AI products, Toloka, based in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, recently secured $72 million in funding.

The funding round was spearheaded by Bezos Expeditions, the investment arm of Jeff Bezos, and saw the participation of Mikhail Parakhin, CTO of Shopify and board advisor to various AI companies like Perplexity, Liquid.ai, and Recraft. Parakhin has also joined Toloka’s Board of Directors as Chairman. Nebius, a strategic partner, has also invested in the company as a shareholder.

Toloka plans to utilize the funds to develop innovative hybrid human-AI solutions that leverage automation and human expertise.

Under the leadership of Olga Megorskaya, Founder and CEO, Toloka has been a trusted data partner for global tech giants such as Anthropic, Amazon, Microsoft, poolside, Recraft, and Shopify. Transitioning from a general crowdsourcing platform, Toloka now focuses on providing high-quality data annotation tasks and PhD-level domain expertise for LLM development. The company has also expanded into virtual environments where experts test AI agents.

With a network of over 200,000 experts and annotators spanning 50 verified knowledge domains, 100+ countries, and 40+ languages, Toloka has created an ecosystem that enables experts worldwide to collaborate and monetize their expertise in a respectful and convenient manner.
