Revolutionizing Data Centre Operations at Queen Mary University of London

Queen Mary University of London, a prestigious institution ranked 94th in the world, recently partnered with Schneider Electric and its EcoXpert Partner, Advanced Power Technology (APT), to revolutionize its data centre operations. This cutting-edge project has not only reduced the campus’ CO2 emissions in line with sustainability goals but has also significantly lowered energy costs.

Enhancing Sustainability and Efficiency

By integrating Schneider Electric’s EcoStruxure Row Data Centre solution, Queen Mary University was able to improve the reliability, scalability, and availability of its data centre operations. The new configuration provided by APT included energy-efficient cooling solutions and heat recovery technology, allowing waste heat from the data centre to be repurposed for heating and hot water across the campus.

Empowering Future Research

The modernization project has provided Queen Mary University with increased processing power, energy efficiency, and enhanced resiliency for its research computing requirements. The university can now accommodate high-density IT equipment needed for future research developments, ensuring it remains at the forefront of world-leading research initiatives.

Overall, the collaboration between Queen Mary University, Schneider Electric, and APT exemplifies how digital infrastructure can drive sustainability and innovation in data centre operations. The enhanced infrastructure platform not only meets the university’s research computing needs but also supports its sustainability strategy, positioning Queen Mary as a leader in sustainable data centre operations.
