The CGK Campus, as it is known, is poised to offer a remarkable 500 MW of IT capacity upon completion, with the potential to scale up to an impressive 1 GW, according to Digital Edge. This project is set to establish a new standard for hyperscale and AI-ready facilities in Greater Jakarta.
Strategically situated less than 15 kilometers away from Jakarta’s major data center clusters, the CGK Campus will provide businesses with low-latency access to key districts in the capital city, serving as a cornerstone for Indonesia’s expanding digital ecosystem.
The development of the campus will unfold in multiple phases, with the initial phase comprising three buildings. The first building is expected to be operational by Q4 2026, followed by the second and third buildings in Q1 and Q2 2027, respectively.
Next-Gen Workloads and Sustainability
Digital Edge has designed the CGK Campus to cater to next-generation AI workloads, aiming to achieve a commendable PUE of 1.25. The facility will incorporate innovative features such as direct-to-chip liquid cooling, recycled-water systems, and seamless integration of renewable energy sources.
“The CGK Campus represents a significant milestone in our APAC strategy and stands as our most substantial infrastructure investment to date,” stated John Freeman, the CEO of Digital Edge. “This landmark venture will empower us to drive innovation, foster cloud adoption, and enhance digital services across Indonesia and beyond in the coming decade.”
APAC Expansion and Financial Backing
Headquartered in Singapore and backed by Stonepeak, Digital Edge offers comprehensive data center and fiber solutions across nine key markets in the Asia-Pacific region.
This announcement follows Digital Edge’s successful securing of a $325 million credit facility in October 2025 to support its expansion endeavors in Indonesia. The funds will play a pivotal role in the development of the CGK Campus and the final phase of the 23 MW Edge 2 data center in South Jakarta.
“Indonesia’s digital landscape is evolving rapidly, outpacing the growth of its infrastructure,” remarked Stephanus Oscar, the CEO of Digital Edge Indonesia.
Indonesia’s Growing Data Center Market
Indonesia continues to emerge as a pivotal hub for data center expansion, driven by its position as the largest economy in Southeast Asia and the escalating demand for AI and cloud services. Reports from Mordor Intelligence indicate that Indonesia’s data center market reached a value of $1.6 billion in 2025, with projections suggesting a substantial growth to $3.5 billion by 2031.
