A woman in Evansville, Indiana is currently facing serious charges after allegedly tampering with a DoorDash delivery by spraying a harmful substance on the food, causing the customers to vomit.

According to a press release from the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office, a man reported on December 7 that he and his wife fell ill after consuming food ordered through DoorDash. They experienced vomiting and a burning sensation in their mouth, nose, throat, and stomachs.

The man, speaking to NBC News, discovered a red substance on the delivery bag and reviewed footage from their doorbell camera. The footage revealed that after dropping off the food, the woman sprayed a substance towards the meal from a small aerosol can attached to her keychain.

Law enforcement used DoorDash records to identify the suspect as Kourtney Stevenson of Kentucky. Stevenson claimed she was using pepper spray to combat a spider while working for DoorDash, but authorities noted that outdoor spiders in Indiana would not be active during the cold weather.

After Stevenson refused an interview, detectives secured a warrant for her arrest on charges of battery resulting in moderate injury and consumer product tampering. She is awaiting extradition to Indiana.

DoorDash has since banned Stevenson from their platform, stating that they have a zero-tolerance policy for such behavior. The company is cooperating with law enforcement in their investigation.

According to reports from The New York Times and NBC News, it remains unclear if Stevenson has legal representation to speak on her behalf.
