The N8550-24CD8D, a cutting-edge 200G switch introduced by FS, is specifically tailored for AI-centric storage systems and data centers. This high-performance switch is engineered to support the increasing demands of AI workloads and the complexities of hybrid infrastructure upgrades.

FS, a leading solutions provider, has recently unveiled the N8550-24CD8D, a next-generation 200G switch designed to cater to the requirements of AI-focused storage systems and data centers. This advanced switch offers lightning-fast data transfer speeds and a flexible port configuration to meet various networking needs. It is purpose-built for scalability, flexibility, growth, and overall performance, ensuring compatibility with the latest advanced networking technologies.

As AI workloads continue to rise and global enterprises seek faster data transmission without packet loss, the transition from 100G/200G to 400G architectures has become crucial. The N8550-24CD8D switch by FS is a high-density solution engineered to address these escalating demands, assisting data centers and network infrastructures in upgrading to cope with the evolving needs of modern infrastructures.

This innovative switch connects to the core (spine layer) of data networks through 400G uplinks and boasts 24 200G ports, each capable of being split into two 100G ports or four 50G ports. This model is designed to offer flexibility, adapting seamlessly to the capabilities of connected equipment.

For data centers looking to upgrade to a 400G spine, the N8550-24CD8D switch features eight 400G uplinks and can easily integrate with other high-end switches from FS, such as the N9550-32D or N9550-64D, both optimized for core operations. This switch enables organizations to transition gradually to a full 400G infrastructure, minimizing disruptions and the need for significant upfront capital expenditure.

The N8550-24CD8D also incorporates two advanced protocols – EVPN-VXLAN and MLAG. EVPN-VXLAN extends Layer 2 networks over Layer 3 infrastructure, particularly beneficial in cloud environments. Meanwhile, the MLAG protocol allows multiple switches to function as a unified logical unit, enhancing overall performance and simplifying management tasks.

In AI storage network architectures, this switch serves as an aggregation leaf, facilitating the connection of servers and storage devices for low-latency and reliable data transfer, leveraging RoCEv2, PFC, and ECN.

Powered by the Broadcom Trident 4 chip and equipped with sizable data buffers, the N8550-24CD8D is engineered to provide rapid, high-performance networking capabilities, aligning with the evolving needs of modern data centers and network infrastructures.
