Asset Vue Partners with Powercast Corporation for Data Center Monitoring
Asset Vue has recently teamed up with Powercast Corporation, a leading provider of wireless charging systems, to tailor Powercast’s RFID-powered sensor monitoring technology to meet the specific requirements of data centers.
Revolutionary RFID Sensing Technology
Powercast’s RFID sensing technology has gained recognition as a finalist in the RFID Journal 2025 Best New Product Awards. This innovative technology enables maintenance-free monitoring by utilizing industry-standard RAIN RFID inventory readers, eliminating the need for wires and batteries. Visitors can witness the capabilities of Powercast’s technology at booth #615 during the RFID Journal LIVE! show in Las Vegas, Nevada from May 6–8, where the winners of the awards will be announced on May 8.
Enhanced Monitoring with RAIN RFID Technology
With RAIN RFID technology, any object equipped with an RFID tag can be connected to the internet. Powercast’s wireless RF-energy-harvesting chips and sensors can be integrated into RFID tags, allowing for real-time smart monitoring of various environmental factors. This technology enables smarter supply chains by facilitating the tracking of live shipments and monitoring the condition of perishable goods without the constraints of wires or batteries.
Customized Monitoring Solutions for Data Centers
Charles Greene, COO and CTO of Powercast, highlighted the collaboration with Asset Vue to develop a cost-effective and maintenance-free asset monitoring system for data centers. The customized system aims to provide precise monitoring of temperature and humidity to prevent equipment failure in mission-critical environments stored on metal server racks.
Efficient Wireless Power Transmission
Powercast’s technology eliminates the need for hardwiring sensors or replacing batteries by utilizing standard RAIN RFID readers for wireless power transmission. The Powerharvester PCC110 receiver chip integrated within RFID sensor tags harvests RF energy from RFID readers, enabling continuous power supply and data communication.
Seamless Integration and Easy Installation
The RFID sensor tags are designed for easy deployment with peel-back adhesive backing, allowing them to be placed anywhere within range of RFID readers. The technology is currently undergoing beta testing at Asset Vue and is expected to be launched later this year.
