LiquidStack Launches GigaModular Coolant Distribution Unit for Data Centers
LiquidStack, a leading provider of liquid cooling solutions for data centers, has introduced its GigaModular Coolant Distribution Unit (CDU) with a cooling capacity of up to 10 megawatts (MW). This innovative system was unveiled at the Datacloud Global Congress as the industry’s first modular and scalable CDU designed to meet the growing thermal demands of modern data center workloads.
The GigaModular CDU comes at a time when the demand for high-performance computing infrastructure is on the rise due to advancements in AI, cloud computing, and machine learning. Market forecasts predict significant growth in the liquid cooling segment, with the segment expected to reach over $15.75 billion by 2030. The introduction of high-powered chips like Nvidia’s B300 and GB300 is anticipated to further increase rack densities to over 600 kilowatts by 2027.
In response to these market trends, LiquidStack has developed the GigaModular CDU to provide a scalable and adaptable solution. With a modular design, the CDU enables facilities to implement a pay-as-you-grow model, reducing upfront costs while ensuring long-term scalability. The system supports single-phase direct-to-chip liquid cooling, accommodating heat loads ranging from 2.5 MW to 10 MW per deployment.
Key features of the GigaModular CDU include twin high-efficiency IE5 pumps, dual brazed plate heat exchangers (BPHx), and dual 25-micron strainers for enhanced component reliability. The system’s centralized control module simplifies operation and maintenance, while integrated temperature, pressure, and flow sensors optimize system management. LiquidStack offers configuration flexibility, providing the CDU as a skid-mounted solution or individual cabinets for on-site assembly based on deployment preferences.
Production of the GigaModular CDU is scheduled to begin in September 2025 at LiquidStack’s manufacturing facility in Carrollton, Texas. This launch reaffirms LiquidStack’s commitment to delivering cutting-edge cooling solutions for data centers as they evolve to support power-dense AI and edge computing workloads. With this latest innovation, LiquidStack aims to revolutionize the approach to liquid cooling in data centers, offering a high-capacity, future-proof platform that can adapt to the evolving demands of modern digital infrastructure.
