Revolutionizing Energy Usage in Data Centers
Zendo has recently inked a £20 million contract to supply 40GWh of renewable energy annually to the Redhill facility, which is equivalent to powering 15,000 UK households. With a vast expanse spanning 7.8 acres and accommodating over 160,000 square feet of data hall space, Redhill serves as a crucial hub for numerous Fortune 500 companies.
Enhancing Infrastructure and Efficiency
Galaxy, in collaboration with investment partner Castleforge, acquired the Redhill site earlier this year and has committed to a £10 million upgrade program over several years. This substantial investment aims to modernize the facility, improve operational efficiency, and cater to the requirements of High Performance Computing and AI applications.
Driving Renewable Energy Adoption
The transformation at Redhill showcases Galaxy’s strategic approach to integrating renewable energy sources through a robust Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) and fostering AI-ready infrastructure. By teaming up with Zendo, the company aims to position data center energy requirements as a competitive advantage and a catalyst for renewable energy adoption.
Optimizing Energy Consumption
UrbanChain, a UK-based platform, will be supplying clean energy to the Redhill campus, leveraging its innovative blockchain technology to ensure transparency and traceability in energy sourcing. Zendo’s software complements this renewable supply by offering usage monitoring, precise forecasting, and data-driven insights to maximize efficiencies at Redhill.
Addressing Future Challenges
As the global adoption of AI accelerates, the energy consumption from data centers is poised to double by 2030. Zendo’s pioneering ‘Energy OS’ is designed to help operators predict and adapt to the fluctuating demands of AI workloads, thereby stabilizing energy costs. Galaxy plans to leverage Zendo’s technology to equip data centers with the necessary tools to tackle upcoming challenges effectively.
