Matthew Baynes has been named as the new Vice President for Schneider Electric’s Secure Power and Data Centre division in the UK and Ireland. With over 20 years of experience in the data centre industry, Baynes brings a wealth of knowledge from his previous global and regional leadership roles. His expertise includes ecosystem management, colocation strategy, and driving commercial growth in the data centre sector.

Matthew Baynes is set to lead Schneider Electric’s Secure Power and Data Centre business in the UK and Ireland, focusing on collaboration with EcoXpert partners, local authorities, and ecosystem stakeholders. The goal is to ensure the region is equipped with sustainable and resilient AI-ready data centre infrastructure, aligning with the government-backed AI Opportunities Action Plan.

Having spent almost two decades dedicated to enhancing Schneider Electric’s data centre business, Matthew Baynes has held significant roles within the company. As the former Global Vice President for Strategic Partners and Cloud Service Providers, he successfully expanded the function on a global scale. Additionally, his involvement with techUK and the European Data Centre Association (EUDCA) showcases his commitment to shaping policy and promoting sustainability within the industry.

Matthew Baynes’ new position marks a pivotal moment for Schneider Electric as they aim to deliver cutting-edge AI-ready solutions across data centres and energy management. Pablo Ruiz-Escribano, Senior VP for Europe, expressed confidence in Baynes’ ability to tackle the growth challenges ahead, highlighting his track record of building high-performing teams and scaling data centre programs.

With immediate effect, Matthew Baynes’ appointment signals a strategic move by Schneider Electric to strengthen its presence in the UK infrastructure market, positioning the company for success in the evolving digital landscape.
