Seamless Connectivity: Egypt and Jordan Linked by Coral Bridge Subsea Cable

In a groundbreaking development for the region’s digital infrastructure, leading subsea cable operators Telecom Egypt and licensed telecom service provider NaiTel have successfully completed the construction of the Coral Bridge express subsea cable connecting Egypt and Jordan. This significant milestone marks the first direct underwater cable connecting the two nations in over 25 years, providing a high-fiber-count digital link across the Gulf of Aqaba.

The Coral Bridge subsea system, after landing in Taba, Egypt, was deployed across the Gulf of Aqaba before reaching Aqaba, Jordan. This new cable is a part of Telecom Egypt’s expanding international digital infrastructure in the Sinai Peninsula, making it the first subsea system to dock at the company’s new cable landing site in Taba, Egypt. The cable’s landing in Jordan at ADH’s Tier III carrier-neutral colocation facility in Aqaba will enhance recovery and redundancy plans for data center-hosted corporations and hyperscalers.

Coral Bridge is designed to benefit local, regional, and global enterprises by offering seamless onward connections across Asia, Africa, and Europe. With 48 fiber pairs and the capacity to carry over 1 Petabit of data traffic, this 15-kilometer cable meets the growing demand for data-intensive applications like artificial intelligence and cloud computing. Additionally, the cable’s brief duration significantly reduces latency and data expenses, making it a valuable asset for the digital landscape.
