Introducing STACK Academy: Addressing Skills Shortages in the Data Center Industry
STACK Infrastructure is proud to announce the launch of STACK Academy, a groundbreaking workforce development initiative aimed at tackling critical skills shortages in the data center industry.
The Academy offers specialized training programs in Italy, Norway, and Switzerland, with an initial cohort of 55 participants set to begin in 2025. The goal of the program is to establish a scalable talent development model that addresses key skills gaps in data center construction, operations, and health and safety. STACK Academy incorporates a unique hybrid learning approach that combines theoretical education with hands-on training over an 18-month period. Participants will benefit from a blend of instructor-led sessions, self-paced study modules, and project-based learning opportunities.
Building upon the success of similar initiatives in Italy over the past two years, STACK Academy is designed to provide participants with the skills and knowledge needed to excel in the data center industry. In addition to technical training, the program also includes modules focused on developing “soft skills” and behavioral competencies that align with STACK’s core values: Clients, Consideration, and Community.
Empowering Future Professionals
John Eland, Chief Executive Officer of STACK EMEA, emphasizes the importance of investing in workforce development to meet the growing demand for skilled professionals in the data center sector. He notes that data centers play a vital role in supporting modern society’s digital needs and that recruiting diverse talent from local communities is essential for industry growth. By targeting hard-to-reach individuals and promoting diversity, STACK Academy aims to bridge the skills gap and create opportunities for individuals of all backgrounds.
STACK’s commitment to education and professional development extends beyond STACK Academy. The company offers a range of education programs for individuals at all stages of their careers, from students to seasoned professionals. Through partnerships with schools and higher education institutions, STACK is working to engage with future job seekers and promote early involvement in the data center industry.
Driving Social Mobility and Inclusion
In line with its commitment to social impact, STACK recently introduced a scholarship program in EMEA for female students pursuing careers in the data center industry. This initiative covers recipients’ academic expenses and living costs, demonstrating STACK’s dedication to promoting diversity and inclusion within the sector.
As the data center industry continues to evolve and expand, STACK remains focused on empowering individuals from all backgrounds to pursue rewarding careers in this dynamic field. Through initiatives like STACK Academy and scholarship programs, the company is driving social mobility and fostering a more inclusive workforce within the data center industry.
