Google has recently implemented layoffs that have impacted over 100 workers in its design teams, as part of the company’s move towards AI and cost-saving measures. This latest round of job cuts has affected various departments within Google, including the cloud division, where teams focusing on user experience research and platform and service experience have been affected. The layoffs have resulted in a significant reduction in some design teams, particularly in the United States, with employees given until early December to find new roles within the company. While Google has not publicly commented on the layoffs, sources indicate that the restructuring is part of a larger effort to reallocate resources towards AI infrastructure and streamline operations.
