The Data Centre Alliance: Leading the Way in Talent Development
Established back in 2010, the Data Centre Alliance (DCA) stands out as the premier UK Trade Association representing the entire data centre community. With a mission to be a reliable voice within the industry, the DCA facilitates the sharing and acquisition of knowledge, ensuring that decision-makers and the general public fully grasp the essential role data centres play in our increasingly digital world.
As our society becomes more reliant on digital services, the data centre sector that supports it must also evolve. By educating the market, the DCA is actively working to maintain the resilience, sustainability, and agility of this ecosystem. At the core of this evolution lies the challenge of securing talent and grooming future industry leaders. Recognizing the pressing need to address the current labor challenges, the DCA has appointed Mike to help mitigate these issues.
One of the key challenges faced by the data centre industry is the aging workforce, with the average employee age currently standing at 53. The urgency to attract a new generation of talent to replace this aging workforce has never been more critical. Mike’s expertise in talent acquisition and workforce development will play a pivotal role in supporting DCA initiatives aimed at tackling this challenge. In his role as a DCA Executive Board Member, Mike will also represent the association at various industry events throughout the year, fostering collaborations with existing partners and establishing new connections.
Steve Hone, the CEO of the Data Centre Alliance, highlighted the reasons behind Mike’s selection for this crucial role: “Mike’s profound understanding of the sector, combined with his dedication to talent development, makes him an ideal addition to The DCA’s Executive Board. With digital infrastructure set to triple in the coming years, it is imperative that we confront the skills shortage directly, and Mike’s wealth of experience will be invaluable in this endeavor.”
In the coming year, Mike will continue to be the face of the DCA at its events and partner gatherings across the UK and Europe, further solidifying the association’s commitment to driving talent development within the data centre industry.
