Tier IV has introduced Edge.Auto, a new product that offers a range of solutions for autonomous driving systems, from individual hardware components to fully integrated AD systems. The company recently showcased this innovative product at multiple live demonstrations during CES 2024.
Shinpei Kato, the founder, CEO, and CTO of Tier IV, emphasized that Edge.Auto complements the company’s existing solutions for developing AD systems. He highlighted Tier IV’s commitment to providing comprehensive solutions, from hardware components to fully integrated AD systems. Kato also mentioned that Tier IV is actively seeking partners to enhance the Edge.Auto platform further.
Edge.Auto serves as a reference platform for AD system development, combining sensors, computers, and software tools. Leveraging open-source sensor drivers and software modules from Autoware, Tier IV offers flexibility in hardware configuration and the building of fully integrated AD systems for various applications.
This new product seamlessly integrates with Tier IV’s existing products, such as Pilot.Auto and Web.Auto, allowing users to efficiently select and validate the necessary software and hardware units for AD system development. This streamlined process enables the quick customization of autonomous driving products and services.
Tier IV’s automotive cameras boast dynamic range and resolutions ranging from 2.5MP to 8.3MP, suitable for applications like driver-assistance systems, autonomous driving, surveillance, and robotics. The company is set to launch the new C3 camera in 2024, alongside USB adaptors and edge perception development kits.
The Sensor Fusion System offered by Tier IV is a perception development platform enabling sensor fusion, with open-source tools, documentation, and support for tasks like sensor calibration and synchronization. Users have the flexibility to customize the system by selecting sensors and ECUs.
Additionally, the GMSL2 to 10 Gigabit Ethernet Conversion Module allows the acquisition of perception data from up to eight cameras, transforming them into 10 Gigabit Ethernet streams. This solution offers synchronization with LiDAR, individual shutter timing control, and support for various perception technologies.
Junwei Bao, the CEO of Seyond, expressed excitement about collaborating with Tier IV on advancing autonomous vehicle and robotics development using their high-performance LiDAR technology and Edge.Auto platform.
