Thailand’s AI Revolution: AIS and Oracle Partner to Launch Local Cloud Support

AIS and Oracle have collaborated to introduce a cutting-edge cloud platform in Thailand, catering to the needs of businesses and government entities seeking enhanced control over their data storage and management. The newly launched AIS Cloud, powered by Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, operates on servers located within Thailand, adhering to local data regulations. The initiative involves a substantial investment of around THB 4 billion in local data centers, enabling organizations to develop AI systems, store vast amounts of data, and deliver digital services while ensuring data sovereignty within the country.

The companies are putting around THB 4 billion into local data centres for the project. The goal is to give organisations a way to build AI systems, store large volumes of data, and run digital services — all while keeping that data inside the country and under Thai regulations.

AIS Business said the new service is designed for both public and private sector users who want to upgrade their IT systems without relying too much on foreign cloud providers. By using local infrastructure, businesses can reduce risks tied to cross-border data transfers and stay aligned with cybersecurity rules set by Thai authorities.

There’s growing demand across industries for computing systems that can handle AI, machine learning, and big data. These workloads need a lot of storage and processing power — and flexibility to scale up when needed. AIS said its cloud system supports these needs while keeping performance stable and data secure.

Phupa Akavipat, Chief Enterprise Business Officer at AIS, said:

“We firmly believe that Thailand must have its own AI capabilities to ensure long-term technological sovereignty and resilience. At AIS, we are convinced that ‘digital infrastructure owned and operated by Thais’ is the cornerstone of national development in the digital era.”

To make adoption easier for local users, AIS is offering features like billing in Thai baht, contracts in Thai, and local-language support. The cloud system also comes with automatic scaling for heavier workloads, follows strict security rules, and supports technologies used in AI and analytics.

AIS Cloud is also the first platform in Thailand to receive a 3-star rating under the dSURE cloud certification program. The certification is awarded by Thailand’s Digital Economy Promotion Agency (DEPA), which reviews cloud services for compliance, security, and performance.

Passakon Prathombutr, DEPA’s chief technology officer, said the agency’s mission is to push Thailand’s digital economy forward by encouraging use of tools like cloud platforms, AI, and data systems across business, industry, and government.

Alongside the cloud launch, AIS also rolled out a Network-as-a-Service (NaaS) platform. The service gives customers a self-service portal to manage and adjust their network connections — including the ability to add bandwidth or extend services through 5G and fibre, both in Thailand and abroad.

AIS said the NaaS offering is built to work smoothly with its new cloud service, giving users more control over how they connect systems and run services. It also includes round-the-clock support and built-in security monitoring.

The company said its long-term plan is to be a one-stop provider for AI and digital services in Thailand — combining cloud, compute, and network services to help local organisations modernise and compete regionally. Future updates may include support for hybrid and multi-cloud setups, as well as API-based system integration.
