Upon the chipmakers’ announcement, the initial response was largely positive. Although Intel’s shares initially saw a boost, they later dipped. Industry expert Sag expressed surprise at the Nvidia Intel partnership, stating that it signifies Nvidia’s support for Intel and keeps competitors like AMD on their toes.

The collaboration between Nvidia and Intel presents both advantages and disadvantages for IT consumers. It remains unclear how this alliance will impact Intel’s GPU division, with questions arising about the future of Arc’s development. While Intel’s commitment to discrete graphics chips is uncertain, the partnership could potentially enhance Intel + Nvidia solutions.

Manufacturing agreement

Although Intel is set to manufacture the jointly developed chips, there has been no mention of Nvidia transferring other chip lines from TSMC to Intel fabs. The absence of a foundry component in the collaboration is surprising, as it could have implications for long-term cost reduction and benefits for Intel.
