Transparent Power: Serverfarm’s Renewable Energy Commitment
SHARE

Serverfarm is dedicated to transparency and sustainability in their commitment to renewable energy. As data center operators, they understand the importance of being transparent about where their power comes from and how it is used within their facilities. Their goal is to continuously improve efficiency and deliver more compute power while consuming less energy.

Data centers are increasingly shifting towards using electricity from renewable sources such as wind, solar, and hydro power. The transition towards net zero emissions involves utilizing clean hydrogen power to reduce the carbon footprint of data centers. Serverfarm is at the forefront of this movement, evaluating hydrogen fuel cell technology at their sites in North America and EMEA.

They support the Dutch Government’s sustainability targets and policies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Serverfarm is also exploring the use of green hydrogen as a primary energy source, with the help of a Dutch Government subsidy plan aimed at scaling up renewable hydrogen production through electrolysis. This initiative will fund projects focused on producing green hydrogen, which is expected to play a significant role in the fuel mix for data centers.

One of Serverfarm’s cutting-edge facilities, AMS1 in Amsterdam, offers large enterprises access to a crucial data center hub with high connectivity to carriers and internet exchanges. AMS1 is compliant with industry standards for security and efficiency, providing robust connectivity to meet the demands of the digital landscape.

In conclusion, investing in hydrogen production for clean fuel is essential for the future of Amsterdam’s data center infrastructure. It not only reduces environmental impact and complies with regulations but also brings economic benefits, enhances energy security, and fosters technological innovation. Serverfarm’s commitment to sustainability and renewable energy initiatives is paving the way for a greener and more efficient data center industry.
