Industry chatter surrounding the significance of nuclear-powered data centers in fueling the AI revolution escalated this week, with data center provider Equinix unveiling fresh collaborations with cutting-edge nuclear technology companies. The California-based data center behemoth revealed its intentions to broaden its presence in Europe and the U.K., along with outlining new partnerships with Radiant, ULC-Energy, and Stellaria. Equinix also disclosed plans to enhance the deployment of solid-oxide fuel cells in conjunction with Bloom Energy.
Describing small modular reactors (SMRs) as crucial components of the “future energy mix,” Equinix’s SVP and chief procurement officer Ali Ruckteschler emphasized to DCN that these partnerships were established at a critical juncture.
